Server & Storage
We listen to our clients’ needs and design the best combination of server and storage for them.
Server & Storage
When the business grows and needs more computing power, it is almost inevitable for companies to invest in servers and storage, especially in the IT-driven business world.
Server
By definition, a server is a program or hardware device that provides services to other devices on the network. When an organization plans to buy hardware for servers, it needs to consider a few essential factors:
System requirements by the software, including processor, memory, storage capacity
Network connectivity – how the hardware links with the network and the speed (e.g. 1G/10G Ethernet, fibre optic cables etc.)
Nature of the operating systems used – virtualized environment or physical installation
Peripheral support – connectivity of external devices such as storage extension, tape drive etc.
Manageability – whether it supports central management and remote support features
Support from the principals – the service-level and turnaround time (e.g. business-critical onsite support warranty service)
ITWin has been working Dell, HP Enterprise (HPE), Lenovo, Cisco and Acer to provide a wide range of servers for various enterprise needs.
Storage
In a nutshell, storage is nothing but a physical device on a computer that can permanently store data. With the rapid growth of needs for larger storage capacity, storage is now playing an essential role in the corporate IT operations.
Server & Storage
At the entry-level, Network Attached Storage (NAS) is a common choice. It is typically a disk array comprising multiple hard drives connected to the network. While it is relatively cheaper and easy to deploy, it usually is not scalable.
Storage Area Network (SAN) device is a more advanced storage option. It is part of business-critical IT system that requires high performance and intelligence in operations.
Conventionally, storage commonly SATA and SAS hard drives to build the storage pool. With technology advancement in building the large capacity of Solid-State Disk (SSD), we can see SSD is getting popular in modern SAN devices.
Server & Storage
Modern storage does not only provide standard capacity for storing data but the intelligence of arranging the data for rapid retrieval. One can opt for pure SSD storage, or hybrid storage consists of SSD and SAS/SATA drives.
Some advanced storage principals, such as PureStorage, DellEMC, etc., have come out with high-performance storage using NVMe architecture that overcomes the performance bottleneck of M.2 SATA.
ITWin has experiences with DellEMC PowerStore, HPE Nimble, PureStorage, NetApp solutions to meet different needs from the enterprise world.
